Red Tornado Spins into Action

The campaign kicked off its recent string of announcements with the introduction of Red Tornado, a Crowdfunding Exclusive character. This unique Hero, an amalgamation of an android & an air elemental, brings distinctive abilities to the game. Red Tornado’s android physiology grants him immunity to the negative effects of Villains’ Crisis tokens, providing players with a resilient character option. His Vortex Generation ability allows him to strike at Enemies in adjacent Locations, adding a strategic element to combat.
Super Hero & Super-Villain Cards Expansion

Following Red Tornado’s reveal, CMON announced two interconnected Stretch Goals. The first introduces a set of 6 new Super Hero cards & 4 new Super-Villain cards, exclusive to campaign backers. These cards are designed to enhance the Super-Villain Mode, where players have an “ace up their sleeve” in the form of unique event cards. The new set promises to bring surprising twists to gameplay, with Villains potentially recovering discarded Master Plan cards or launching surprise attacks on Heroes’ starting locations.
Gorilla Grodd: A Formidable Foe

The campaign then unveiled Gorilla Grodd as a playable Villain, complete with a figure, Villain dashboard, 12 Master Plan cards, & 6 Threat cards. Grodd’s gameplay mechanics revolve around his formidable strength & mind control abilities. Utilizing the Speed Force, he adds Thugs to every Location he enters. His Threats train these Thugs in “Gorilla Warfare,” allowing them to scatter to other free Locations when defeated, potentially causing Overflows.
Black Lightning Brings the Thunder

The next reveal introduced Black Lightning as another Crowdfunding Exclusive Hero. This electrifying character adds dynamic gameplay elements with his Electro-Blasts, capable of striking enemies from a distance. Black Lightning can create an electric force field for protection & even perform sudden super leaps by Charging a card. These abilities offer players versatile options for both offense & defense.
Despero’s Intergalactic Conquest

In a surprising twist, the campaign introduced Despero, an intergalactic conqueror, as a new Villain. Despero’s gameplay centers around collecting Nth Metal, represented by Crisis tokens on each Location. As he accumulates these tokens, his attacks become increasingly powerful. Despero’s mechanics involve constant addition of Thugs & Civilians, with his Threats utilizing mind control to turn them against the Heroes.
Martian Manhunter: Versatility Incarnate

The Martian Manhunter joined the Hero roster, bringing unparalleled versatility to the game. His Hero deck contains 14 cards, two more than usual, each with a different Special Effect. This unique feature makes him both harder to defeat & more resourceful than most Heroes. Martian Manhunter’s abilities include Shapeshifting, Telepathy, Invisibility, & Flight.
Steppenwolf’s Relentless Assault

Steppenwolf, a military general in Darkseid’s army, was revealed as another Villain option. His gameplay focuses on swift, deadly attacks targeting the weakest Heroes but engaging all nearby opponents. Steppenwolf’s mechanics involve filling Locations with Parademon Threats, tough Thugs that attack Heroes ending their turn in the same Location.
Vixen: Channeling the Animal Kingdom

The latest character announcement introduced Vixen, a Hero with the unique ability to channel animal powers through her Tantu Totem. Vixen’s abilities include stomping out Crisis tokens (Elephant), flying (Eagle), damage resistance (Bear), charging & shoving Enemies (Rhino), pouncing on Thugs (Lion), swinging Civilians to safety (Monkey), & regeneration (Planaria).
